Grand River Hospital, as one of Ontario's largest community hospitals, with approximately 500 beds, provides excellent patient-centered care to the over 760,000 residents of Waterloo Region and Wellington County. Through innovation and collaboration, Grand River Hospital has become a leader in the provision of patient care programs for our community, within available resources. These programs include an integrated cancer program, regional critical care center, renal care, child birth and children services, mental health and addiction services, medical and surgical services, complex and continuing care and diagnostics. Grand River Hospital provides these services at the Freeport Site, the Kitchener-Waterloo Site, the Grand River Regional Cancer Centre and several satellite clinics throughout the region.
The KW site is the host to our primary acute care services and is located in downtown Kitchener. The services offered at the KW Site include acute inpatient mental health services and a range of out-patient services, emergency, medicine, surgery, cancer services, renal, maternal-child services, critical care and others. The KW site is a fast paced environment and located in an urbanized setting.
The Freeport Site will be the new home of the specialized mental health program and is located in the south of Kitchener close to Highway 401. Freeport has evolved over nearly a century to become a key site for complex continuing care, rehabilitation, a range of out-patient services including a renal dialysis satellite and breast screening, and soon mental health services. The Freeport site offers a spacious and calm environment with well-maintained grounds.

GRH is continually working hard to enhance the culture and quality of work life for our staff. A quality of work-life committee was formed in late 2008, to help address any issues that arouse through the survey. The quality of work life committee has accomplished many things since it was established including an employee of the month award, improved shuttle service for people who have to park offsite, improved the quality of food in the cafeteria and many more.
We plan to keep improving the quality of work life for one of our most precious resources, our healthcare professionals!
